HAITI, 12 LIBRARIES
Haiti is the most deprived country of the Western Hemisphere. Since its independence in 1804 the history of the country has not turned it into a prosperous modern state. A lasting improvement can only be achieved through a radical change of schooling and education: ending illiteracy, building schools and libraries, training and paying teachers and appropriate electricity supply.
Joint effort
Meanwhile many non-governmental organizations are meanwhile exerting themselves to meet the most urgent needs. Biblionef is very grateful to be able to make a contribution: thanks to co-financing by the government of Quebec of 200.000 Canadian dollars we can cooperate, together with the 'Timoun' library in the Artibonite area, in starting 12 libraries for children and youngsters and to stack these with books.
