Biblionef provides global aid for the development of children in disadvantaged areas, who have hardly or no access to reading material.
Through our own children's books storage library in Surinam we distribute new Dutch children's book to some 300 schools, children's homes and other social service institutions. A lot of books are provided to schools and children's homes in the Dutch Antilles as well.
In South Africa Biblionef is founding library projects in the townships. Biblionef is specialised in supplying children's books in all the 11 recognised South African languages, so also the minority languages. We promote the collecting of native children's stories and publishing them. In addition Biblionef provides adapted children's books, e.g. large-letter books and Braille books for children with a visual handicap. Biblionef also provides children's books about the subject of HIV/Aids.
Biblionef sends by request new, mostly English, children's books to small-scale projects in developing countries like Africa, Asia and Central Europe. The joint Biblionef organizations distribute yearly 500.000 new children's books over the whole world.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
